The Low Down On Vista. Does It Work (Well) Or Not?

I just purchased an even newer laptop which comes with both Vista Business and Windows XP SP2. Being that Vista is finally coming around and that Pro-Tools is advertised to work with Vista, Does Pro-Tools REALLY work well with Vista? I run 7.4 on my laptop now with XP and it works great. Should I take the plunge and work with Pro-Tools and Vista on the new laptop, or should I downgrade to XP?

I tried Vista for a few weeks back in November/December. The problem wasn't so much ProTools as it was Plug-ins. Many of my favorite plug-ins got very "glitchy." I even called for support on one plug-in and the tech advised me that although the software was labelled as compatible, I may experience technical difficulties and that the corporate line was to suggest XP for smoother performance.

There are a billion things that I love about Vista (security), and Pro-Tools 7.4 runs okay as well. The problems are however, plug ins and the billion other programs I've accumulated over the years for my XP systems.
