I recently took my S40 for its volvo safety check. Basically a few bits and bobs required here and there. Today i went to do my weekly check and found the Coolant Tank cap had been left off and im doun to the lower neck of the coolant tank (well below the minimum), looks as if i have been driving around nigh on a week minus the top being attached. It will go straight back tomorrow but- 1. Is it ok to drive it (about 10 miles) 2. should i ask for a top up or a complete coolant bleed and fill 3. could i have damaged my car? Not exactly a very good safety check!!! I know human error occurs but this in my books just isnt on.

Have you got the cap? If you have, top it up put it on and don't worry about it. If you haven't go back tell them they are useless and that you're not a happy bunny, won't be going back there again etc etc and see what you can blag from them. It'll be fine either way.

if you havent got the cap i would try and bodge it for the return journey. and then take it off before you go into the dealers.
