Thats about normal for a standard car. It should be about 6psi. If you are interested you could hook up a proper gauge to check it. I watched a video on Youtube of a 940 turbo that had been tuned. It showed the boost gauge going right round off the scale (by quite a bit) and corrisponding movement of the rev counter and speedo ! My car is set to 15psi with a gauge and the standard one goes right to the end of the marking.

The fuel gauge probably moves at the same speed in the opposite direction. The smoke might indicate that something is slightly wrong, you will get a bit if the weather is a bit cold though. Keep an eye on the oil and water levels to be on the safe side.

White smoke is caused by oil passing the seals in the turbo and vapourizing in the exhaust. It could be a sign of excess back pressure due to a blocked breather system.

White smoke at idle is sometimes an indication of turbo wear. I might have the same problem.
